TIMERGARA: A man hailing from Karachi, who had visited his relatives in Khushmuqam in Chakdara in Lower Dir district a week ago, has been confirmed a Covid-19 patient.
Deputy District Health Officer (DDHO), Lower Dir and the district health department focal person for Covid-19 Dr Irshad Ali told The News on Sunday that one Sohail Farooq, 25, had come to his relatives in Khushmuqam village in Chakdara from Karachi a week ago. He said he was taken to Peshawar after showing symptoms for coronavirus where he was admitted to the Police Services Hospital. The official said the patient had been under treatment since March 22 at the said hospital. “Later, swab was taken from the man and sent to the Public Health Reference laboratory in Khyber Medical University (KMU),” he said, adding that the patient tested positive. Dr Irshad Ali said four houses consisting of a total of 20 men and women and 30 children that came in contact with the patient in Chakdara had already been declared as quarantine since March 22 in order to stop further spread of the coronavirus.
