LAHORE: Eliminating the ghost workers from the field staff of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) remained a challenge for the management as recently 26 persons were found punching fake attendance of the staff.

Recently, LWMC general manager HR initiated an inquiry to identify the ghost workers in his team and as a result as many as 26 officials working in LWMC and two Turkish contractors’ staff were found punching fake attendance of workers and also uploading fake pictures.

Following the results, the GM HR, LWMC, wrote a letter to both the Turkish contractors to take strict action against these employees. The inquiry team found most of the fake attendance in Samanabad Town while some cases were also reported in Gulberg Town, Ravi Town, Aziz Bhatti Town and Wagah Town.

LWMC Chairman Riaz Hameed while talking with The News said that he would not tolerate this crime and all those found guilty of punching fake attendance would be sacked immediately.

Meanwhile, he also said LWMC’s Board of Directors was working on finalising a relief package for sanitary workers exclusively as these workers are in the field and fighting corona besides cleaning the City. He said the package would be around Rs 60 million and would be announced very soon.
