Minister for accelerating uplift schemes

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has stressed the need for boosting the pace of work on the ongoing development schemes for labourers and their families with a direction to maintain strict transparency and merit.
He said this while addressing a meeting to review the pace of work on the ongoing schemes of the Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB). Secretary PWWB Shahid Zaman Lak, Director Works Muhammad Mazhar and other officers concerned of the board attended the meeting. Secretary PWWB briefed the minister about the status of schemes and said that 60% work on Labour Colony Warburton at the total cost of Rs. 926.126 million comprising 208 flats, separate higher schools for both boys and girls, community centres, mosques and other basic amenities had been completed.
The work on Labour Welfare Complex Multan at the total amount of Rs. 3017.847 million comprising 992 flats and other facilities was underway and 20% work had been completed, he added. The minister was informed that extension work of Workers Welfare Girls High School Dandot at the total cost of Rs. 46.781 million had been completed by 5% while five classrooms for 200 students, science laboratories and other facilities were being provided there. The secretary PWWB told the minister that the Workers Welfare Primary School Sher-e-Bangaal Labour Colony had been completed by 55 % and its total cost was Rs. 185.46 million as 50 classrooms, library, arts and computer room and other facilities were being provided to more than 1,500 students here. Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar directed the officers concerned to provide drinking water, sewerage, electricity and other facilities to all these schemes at priority basis.
Healthcare: Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafique has directed the administration of all the government hospitals to ensure provision of quality and prompt healthcare services to the people round the clock during the upcoming Eid-ul Azha holidays.
He directed that all the public sector hospitals should prepare a contingency plan for this purpose. In this connection, the Adviser to CM issued written instructions to all the principals of autonomous medical institutions in Punjab, Director General Health Services, all the medical superintendents of teaching as well as DHQs and THQ hospitals, heads of special health institutions in Punjab and all the EDOs Health in Punjab. Kh. Salman Rafique directed that all the hospitals should ensure availability of senior administrators and medical staff. He also directed that all the hospitals should prepare emergency duty rosters and emergency crisis management plans.
