Karachi

March 21, 2020

SSP Muhammad Nouman Siddiqui was posted on Friday as the East Zone deputy inspector general (DIG) of police. He replaced DIG Amir Farooqui.

"In pursuance of Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan Islamabad's notification on promotion to BS-20 Muhammad Nouman Siddiqui, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan, presently posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Special Investigation Unit, Karachi Range is transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders as DIGP, East Zone Karachi, vice Amir Farooqui, transferred," reads a notification issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah on Friday.

DIG Farooqui was accused of supporting land grabbers during his posting in East Zone. Several notices, including that of contempt of court, were also issued to him and others by the Sindh High Court. Sacchal SHO Shafiqur Rehman was also suspended a couple of days ago, who has been accused of having links with land grabbers.
