Huzaifa cruises into Federal Cup Tennis semis
ISLAMABAD: Unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman checked into semi-finals of the 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship beating Mudassar Murtaza in straight sets at the DA/PTF Complex Friday.
Huzaifa overwhelmed Mudassar 6-1, 6-2 to make it to the pre-final. The youngster looked in fine touch and was attacking right from the beginning.
His powerful fore and backend shots stunned experience Mudassir who had no answers. Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza and M Abid also made it to the semi-finals in men’s singles category. Aqeel had to struggle at initial stages to beat Barkatullah who took 4-1 by breaking 2nd game of Aqeel in the first set.
Aqeel Khan fought back and levelled the score 4-4. Aqeel then went on to take first set 6-4. In the second set Aqeel showed his complete supremacy winning it 6-2 by breaking 5th and 7th game of Barkatullah. Aqeel will face Huzafia Abdul Rehman in the first semi-final Saturday.
Second seed Muzammil Murtaza won against Heera Ashiq with score of 7-6(3), 6-0. Both played excellent tennis with second seed winning at the end. Muzammil will face Mohammad Abid in the second semi-final.
