Teenage girl goes missing on her way to school

A teenage girl went missing after she left her home for school in the outskirts of the city, a Bin Qasim police official said on Monday. He said 14-year-old Shumaila had left home this past Friday for school and did not return. The official said the girl’s father, namely Zameer Hussain, who lived with his family in Bin Qasim Town, had filed a police complaint fearing that his daughter had been kidnapped.

The policeman said the school management had informed the father that the girl had not turned up at school after he contacted them when the teenager did not return home. The father suspects that a man named Ikhlaq may be behind the alleged abduction of the girl, added the official.

The policeman said that according to the complaint filed at the police station, the father believes that Ikhlaq and two of his companions have kidnapped his daughter because the suspect, who is his neighbour, has also gone missing. The official said the police are investigating the case.

Minor’s body found

The body of a minor girl who fell into a nullah two days ago was found on Monday. The rescue mission for the recovery of six-year-old Noor Fatima lasted for three days. Police said the girl was playing outside her residence along with her brother when she slipped and fell into the nullah in the SITE area on Saturday.

Following the incident, a large number of area people had started the rescue work on their own in a bid to find the girl. Despite several attempts by rescuers and common citizens, the minor girl could not be recovered alive or death until Sunday night.

However, the girl’s body was found and taken out of the nullah on Monday when residents of the area and rescuers from different welfare associations restarted the search operation on the third consecutive day.
