A lost art
This letter refers to the article ‘The art of diplomacy’ (Jan 21, 2020) by Mohammad Zubair. Undoubtedly, Turkey and Malaysia have done extremely well on the economic front without compromising their sovereignty. Furthermore, they have been steadfast in their support to Pakistan even when traditional allies have dithered. It is not fair to compare these leaders with our own, who are busy building their own empires and cozying up to those that will aid them in this regard, the PTI government is no exception.
The writer’s criticism of the government is justified because of the frequent U-turns that have resulted in our isolation on the international front. There is no denying that we are gradually losing the support of our closest allies and should accept our shortcomings by taking on board all the political parties to remedy our failed diplomacy.
