A deadly business
The bad thing about war is that it is blind, deaf and dumb to the cries of those crushed under its wheels. It doesn't discriminate between the old or young, man or woman, innocent or guilty. It is a silent spectator to your miseries. It is heartless as well, so it doesn't feel the pains and pangs of its victims rather it enjoys their woes and worries. But, it has a brain and is shrewd enough to side with the mighty. It follows the Darwinian theory of ‘survival of the fittest.’ It weakens the weak and empowers the powerful. It is the arch-foe of law and order. It favours chaos and anarchy unconditionally. It follows no calendar. You can start it, but it ends on its own terms and conditions.
It is a good servant but a very cruel master. War is desirable only when it is your servant, but once it erupts, it becomes your cruel master. Then you have no option other than to toe its line. You can't measure the havoc wrought by it. Even your super computers fail to map out its destruction. The former French prime minister, Georges Clemenceau, rightly remarked, “War is too serious a business to be left to the generals.” So, dear President Trump, think very carefully before waging war.
