Duped?

Recently various TV channels showed Nawaz Sharif having a good time at a restaurant in London. Previously, what we had heard from his party leaders and his personal physician was that his condition was so bad that Sharif was at risk of a stroke or even death if he was not taken abroad for treatment. What we saw on TV, as Sharif left the country; was a man with a skip in his step. His appearance and demeanour suggested that his medical condition was not that bad as we were led to believe.

I sincerely think that whatever his medical condition was he could have been easily treated in some of our hospitals which are on par with medical facilities abroad. Many of our cardiologists and cardiac surgeons can compete with those in the UK. The case of Nawaz Sharif should be seen taken as a lesson that – whatever one’s present and previous status or health condition – if he/she is under trial or convicted, they should not be allowed to go abroad for treatment. Granting such permission is unfair to others under trial or convicted, with similar medical conditions, who are not allowed to travel abroad.
