Roots International Schools’ students and RIS foreign languages coordinators were on a study tour yet again for Chinese language and cultural experience. Confucius Institute Headquarters, Hanban in collaboration with Beijing Language & Culture University arranged the Summer Programme study tour, says a press release.
This programme is a major short-term study abroad supported by Hanban since 2010.
The programme received warm welcome by thousands of participators in Confucius Institute from more than 60 countries. This year a group of 100 students from Pakistan went to China under kind supervision of Haseeb and Sabeeha, Confucius Institute Islamabad. This programme was academy-style experience programme designed for international officials, teachers and students who have the demand of learning Chinese language and culture. Duration of the programme was 2 weeks, 7 days in Beijing, another city like Shanghai, Tianjin and Uromqi covered the rest days for learning and experiencing another variety of Chinese Language and culture.
Feasible, efficient and colourful tours were arranged for participators.
The Department of Foreign Languages of Roots International Schools is offering Chinese Language to RIS students and working to incorporate more languages under the umbrella of RFLD to expand the cultural horizons. With this vision the CEO RIS Walid Mushtaq has initiated Roots Chinese Language Department (RCLD). RCLD aims to promote one of the world's oldest cultures; The Chinese culture. Mandarin Chinese perceived as a language of commerce and business, or ‘The language of the future.’
The main content of the programme included Intensive practical Chinese training by professional TCSL teachers before applying Chinese into how to make friends with language partners, do shopping and bargaining, communicate with Chinese and others etc.
The participants also learnt how to conduct dialogue to Chinese experts about Modern China, Chinese traditional culture, history, customs and arts. Roots International students also learnt during the workshops designed with Chinese students and teachers. The Pakistani RIS delegates experienced Chinese traditional arts and culture lessons such as Chinese calligraphy, painting, knotting, paper cutting etc. Furthermore, the study tour included learning Chinese ancient and modern culture by visiting Chinese scenic spots such as Great Wall, Palace Museum, Summer Palace, Heaven Temple, and Forbidden City, Bird’s Nest and different markets and streets. It was indeed a great learning platform for students and trainer alike. Roots International schools have always bolstered such initiatives and this tour is just one unit of the chain.
