PESHAWAR: The Chitral district administration has cleared the Lowari approach road from heavy snow to resume traffic.
An official of the Relief Department said on Thursday the approach road to the Lowari Tunnel, the main transportation route that connects Lower Chitral with Upper Dir district has been cleared from heavy snow and reopened for traffic.
The spokesman advised the drivers and passengers to use chains and take extra precautionary measures while driving on the route due to slippery conditions. He added that the traffic from Dir to Chitral and vice versa would be allowed alternatively. He said one lane of the Karakoram Highway in the Batagram district which wasblocked due to land sliding at Buttal, had been reopened for traffic. The official said machinery by the district administration and Pakthunkhwa Highway Authority were busy to remove avalanches and landslides from the other side of the road, adding the second lane would be cleared soon. The spokesman advised visitors to take extra care while passing through the KKH due to slippery conditions there.
