An angry mob attempted to burn alive a suspected robber who was allegedly looting a woman in Korangi area on Friday. Police said they rescued the alleged robber who, along with this accomplice, reportedly snatched purse from a woman.
Murad Ali’s associate managed to escape the scene on motorcycle while he was caught by an incensed crowd on the spot in Korangi No1, police said. The mob beat up him and some people tried to set the suspect on fire, according to police. However, cops were quick to attend the scene and they saved the alleged robber.
Subsequently, Murad was taken into police custody and a case was registered against the suspect.
Fire at warehouse
Goods worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out at a wood warehouse in Liaquatabad near Firdous Shopping Centre on Friday.
According to a spokesperson for the fire brigade, residents in nearby buildings came out of their homes and informed the fire brigade department about the blaze.
The spokesperson said one fire tender was rushed to the scene to participate in the fire extinguishing work. However, one more fire tender was called on finding the fire was getting out of control.
The firefighters were able to douse the blaze after a hectic effort of two hours. No loss of life was reported while the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.
