Menace of sewage

Rawalpindi: Being a resident of Dhoke Syedaan, Rawalpindi for the past 15 years, I want to draw authorities’ concerned attention towards an important civic problem that needs to be addressed on priority basis. It is not traffic or pollution but is pertaining sewage that is playing havoc on the nerves of the residents of the area.

Most of the time, I feel like puking, whenever I see sewerage water on main roads dipping pedestrian paths. Most of the people feel disgusted and blame the government for it. Yes! Government should be blamed for this mess, but we cannot put the complete responsibility on the government. First of all, the people should act like responsible citizens, and should stop littering around in the streets, parks and other open areas. Apart from people, municipal council’s staff is also responsible for blockade to earn money from locality.

Consequently, this stagnant sewage on roads causes spread of malaria and other diseases. Due to this, a lot of inconvenience is faced by pedestrians especially schoolchildren who are stuck most of the time at homes and are unable to attend their schools.

Due to life threatening diseases and inconvenience caused by this trouble local government should look into the matter and take a remedial action.
