Locusts damage crops in RAHIM YAR Khan
RAHIM YAR KHAN: Locusts on Tuesday damaged crops at Head Farid of Tehsil Liaqatpur. The locusts damaged crops at different villages, including 223, 224, 225, 226, 236, 237, 239, 241, 264, 265 and 270 of Abbasia Canal near Head Farid area of Cholistan where mostly wheat and mustard crops were cultivated.
The residents of the areas complained that no representative from the district administration, Cholistan Development Authority and Agriculture Department visited their areas to review the situation.
Many residents of Cholistan near Head Farid told The News that locusts in swarms attacked their crops, including wheat, mustard and fodder, and ate them in no time.
When contacted, district administration focal person Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Riasat
Ali said DC Ali Shehzad had written a letter to secretary agriculture and director general provincial disaster management authority about locusts attack. He said sprayer vehicles had been arranged to eliminate the fresh locusts attack. There will be no locusts in any area of the district after three days, he added.
