Minister directs officials to monitor contractors’ work

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communications and Works (C&W) Akbar Ayub Khan Tuesday directed the C&W Department officials to monitor contractors closely during the construction of roads and buildings so as not to use substandard materials.

He was presiding over a meeting at C&W Department, which discussed the ongoing development projects in the province, said a handout. At the meeting, C&W Minister Akbar Ayub Khan was briefed on the projects including Shah Alam Sardaryab road, Umarzai Harichand Shergarh road, Junday Marble road, Easter and Western Bypasses, Khairabad Kaahi road, Adina Yar Hussain road, Maqsoos Kohala road, Haripur-Hatar

road, Mardan Swabi road and Risalpur Jahangira via Pir Sabaq Misouri Banda road.

On the occasion, the minister said that work on the construction of roads should be accelerated adding that care should be taken to not to harm SNGPL and PTCL lines during construction.

“The PTCL and SNGPL departments should be informed in advance to dig in wires or pipelines to save the roads from future cuts,” he said and added that roads should be constructed adjacent where toll plazas are located.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communications and Works (C&W) Akbar Ayub Khan maintained that one-way roads should be separated by boundary walls.

The minister directed that height and width of a bypass should be taken care during construction. Akbar Ayub said that shops should be constructed during the construction of underground to take trading benefits in future.
