Website for portrayal of visually impaired launched

Islamabad :The visually impaired professionals of the country have launched a website to highlight the achievements of these dignified persons with blindness as well as the skills and expertise of such inspiring people, says a press release.

A website www.vips.pk has been launched to carry the profiles and the success stories of visually impaired Pakistani professionals. There are wonderful, inspiring legends to share with the nation: “Signs of glory, in each story.”

Today in Pakistan, visually impaired persons from prestigious civil services to academia and businesses are working in every walk of life thanks to information and communication technologies. Some of the advantages of these technologies for blind persons include: easy knowledge acquisition, en­h­anced communication, opportunities for higher education and improved emp­l­oy­ment prospects.

The chief motive behind the creation of the website is to highlight the various professions of the visually impaired community of Pakistan. For the very first time in Pakistan, a platform is being set up as an earnest attempt to showcase the dignified persons with blindness and their respective professions to enlighten the society about the skills and expertise of these inspiring people.

We may find loads of data online regarding disability stats, issues related to the blindness and similar facts, but face a great difficulty when it comes to exploring the listing of visually challenged professionals in the country through online sources.
