LAHORE:Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that India is hatching conspiracies against extension in GSP-Plus status for Pakistan.

He ensured that the matter of GSP-Plus status would be resolved as he had held meetings with Vice-President of European Parliament, Chairperson Human Rights Committee, 36 members of European Parliament and others, and India will meet an utter failure.

In an exclusive talk here at Governor House, Ch Sarwar spoke about his visit to Europe and said he met with European Parliament’s Vice-President Mr Fabio Massimo, Chairman of European Parliament’s Committee for Foreign Affairs David McAllister, Chairperson of European Parliament’s Committee for Human Rights and over three dozens of members of European Parliament. He said that most of the members of European Parliament apprised him that India was hatching conspiracies against Pakistan by making terrorism and other factors as points of contention. But he briefed in detail all the members of parliament about the sacrifices of Pakistan against terrorism and steps taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan for protection of human rights, and after that all of them assured him of extending support to Pakistan.

As Pakistan had earlier attained the GSP-Plus status, the issue of its extension will also be resolved and Pakistan has managed to reap the benefit of over 15 billion dollar through GSP-Plus status. Extension in GSP-Plus status, he added, would be a great success of Pakistan on economic front and good news for business community as well.

The governor said that during his meetings with European parliamentarians, he had apprised them of India’s war hysteria in the region, more than 100 days of curfew in Held Kashmir, genocide of Kashmiris and its other crimes. “I am glad that members of European Parliament have expressed serious concerns over Kashmir issue and they all are in favour of provision of human rights in Held Kashmir as well as allowing the Kashmiris their right to self-determination. Kartarpur Corridor Project for the Sikh and other steps taken by Pakistan were widely appreciated by members of European Parliament and I have told them that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan was ensuring provision of rights to minorities as per vision of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and minority communities are enjoying complete protection in Pakistan.”

Responding to a question, Ch Sarwar said, though Pakistan is faced with challenges with regard to economy, it is also a fact that Pakistan’s economic team under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan took historic measures and now Pakistan is getting stronger economically with every passing day, and first time, country’s current account deficit decreased as it will reduce to 1.5 billion dollars from 18 billion dollars in next few months that will again be a major economic success of Pakistan.

Felicitating 15 Pakistanis on their victory in UK elections, Ch Sarwar said, “I am glad to see that what I had dreamt for after becoming first Muslim member parliament in UK’s history, is now coming true and now a good number of Pakistanis have representation in UK parliament who will continue to raise their voice for freedom of Kashmiris and people of Palestine.”

PERVEEN SARWAR: Perveen Sarwar, wife of Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar participated in a ceremony regarding 135th Founding Day of Daar-ul-Shafqat Lahore.

According to details, Perveen Sarwar participated as chief guest in the 135th Founding Day ceremony of Daar-ul-Shafqat, while Daar-ul-Shafqat Superintendent Afshan Tabassam, Mian Munir Ahmed, Nighat Hussain Shah, Sadaf Rani, Dr Nasreen Zubair, Ayesha Asghar and others were also present on the occasion.

Daar-ul-Shafqat Superintendent Afshan Tabassam briefed the participants about the performance of the institution. In her address, Perveen Sarwar appreciated the work being done by Daar-ul-Shafqat for the helpless children. She said there is no doubt in it that such institutions are not less than a blessing for the helpless children. “I think, philanthropists should support actively to such welfare organisation. If we want secure and bright future of Pakistan then it is necessary that we should get the helpless children on their feet and they should be given their due rights.” She said that history always remembers those who serve the humanity. Children at Daar-ul-Shafqat are children of the nation and it is our responsibility to support them actively.
