Four more tested positive

Confirmed cases reported from different localities of Rawalpindi

As many as four more patients have been tested positive for dengue fever at Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital during last three days. The result of one suspected case is yet to be finalised at the DHQ Hospital.
Confirmation of four more dengue fever cases, two at BBH and two at DHQ Hospital, took the total number of confirmed patients registered at the allied hospitals to 13 and the situation is becoming alarming as the incidence of the infection is showing a continuous trend for over a week.
The DHQ Hospital tested Ali Raza, aged 22, positive for dengue fever through NS1 test two days back, while one Malik Aqeel, aged 28 years, was also confirmed positive for the infection though he has been discharged after treatment, said Medical Superintendent at DHQ Hospital Dr. Khalid Randhawa, while talking to 'The News' on Friday.
He said Ali who is a resident of Dheri Hasanabad is undergoing treatment at the hospital's dengue ward. The DHQ Hospital has confirmed as many as four patients positive for dengue fever within last one week while result in a probable case is yet to be finalized, he said. Malik Aqeel is a resident of Dhoke Ratta.
The BBH tested two more patients positive for dengue fever in last two days after which the total number of positive cases registered at the BBH reaches four, said BBH chief Dr. Asif Qadir Mir while talking to 'The News' on Friday. He said one of the two newly confirmed patients is a 28-year-old male who is a resident of Naseerabad.
The Holy Family Hospital has so far tested five patients positive for dengue fever while result in two probable cases is yet to be finalized, said HFH chief Dr. Arshad Ali Sabir.
Data collected by 'The News' has revealed that the confirmed cases of dengue fever are being reported from scattered areas of town which is more alarming as even a single confirmed case from a locality proves the existence of 'aedes aegypti', the vector that causes dengue fever in the area.
To date, as many as four confirmed cases of dengue fever have been reported from Dhoke Ratta, two from Rahimabad and one each from Mohallah Chah Sultan, Amarpura, Dhoke Kashmirian, Misrial Road, Naseerabad and Dheri Hasanabad.
Many health experts are of the view that if the situation is not controlled well in time, the population in town may face a severe outbreak of the infection as confirmed cases of the infection from eight different localities in town have already been reported.
