The Expanded Programme for Immunisation (EPI) in Sindh has decided to extend the typhoid vaccination campaign in order to reach maximum children with the life-saving TCV vaccine. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Sindh.
Project Director EPI Sindh Dr Akram Sultan lauded the vaccination teams for inoculating more than 9 million children, who are more than 90 per cent of the total target of 10.1 million children in Sindh, from November 18 to 30.
He lauded the role played by the Pakistan Paediatric Association and the media for their support and highlighting this campaign as a national cause. “We can give one more push to reach the maximum number of children and save them against typhoid.”
Dr Sultan announced that the campaign will be extended in Karachi where the school coverage for typhoid vaccination will continue from today (Monday) to December 7 to cover the missed children. The TCV vaccination would also continue at all the major government and private hospitals during the aforementioned dates to provide free vaccination to the eligible clientele.
