Crime rate lowered in Mardan
MARDAN: Police have released a 10-month report for the year 2019, according to which the crime rate has lowered compared to the past year in Mardan district. An official statement said that there were 73 incidents of robbery in the current year, compared to the 108 in the corresponding period of last year. Similarly, the murder and attempted murder cases decreased from 210 and 191 and to 205 and 139, respectively. The statement added that the vehicle snatching incidents also decreased from 21 last year to 9 this year, while the cases of aerial firing also decreased from 649 to 399 and cases registration against usury increased from 12 to 100 this year as the Mardan Police has set up a special desk for usury prevention. District Police Officer Muhammad Sajjad Khan said that the main reason behind the decrease in the crime rate is that the police conducted search and strike operations in different parts of Mardan in 2019.
