Falling FDI

This refers to the news report, ‘OICCI concerned over deteriorating foreign investment’ (July 24). The negative perception of Pakistan’s investment climate is because of the tainted image of our political leadership. Unless a clean and honest government, with strong leadership qualities, emerges the image of Pakistan as an investor-friendly country will not emerge. No amount of incentives will do the job.
When local investors are not willing to invest and set up manufacturing plants, how can one expect overseas investors to set up businesses in Pakistan, especially when there are other competing destinations offering a much better environment and relatively clean administration?
