LANDIKOTAL: All the prayer leaders were asked to offer Friday’s congregational prayer before the fixed time and bazaars were closed over a rumour that a few suicide bombers had entered the Jamrud and Landikotal subdivisions of Khyber Agency.
The Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal, Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, told The News by phone that the administration had received a tip-off about suicide bombers. He said that taking precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident, they advised the prayer leaders of all mosques in Landikotal to perform Juma prayers a bit earlier. He said all residents and imams were informed accordingly. Tayyab said all the residents were asked to be vigilant and inform authorities and the security forces if they spotted any suspicious person.
Meanwhile, the security forces started patrolling Landikotal and Jamrud bazaars and other public places. They checked vehicles and asked passengers travelling in various vehicles to thwart any terrorist attack.Local bazaars and other private offices were closed before their routine time.
