PHF demands funds for Olympic qualifiers
KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sent a communiqué to Ministry of IPC, saying that Pakistan would play the Olympic qualifiers next month, playing back-to-back matches in Holland on October 26 and 27, and for that purpose it needed financial assistance, ‘The News’ learnt on Thursday.
The PHF informed the ministry of IPC, which looks after the affairs of sports in Pakistan at federal level, that it prevented Pakistan from isolation by holding fruitful talks with FIH.
It said funds would be needed to train the boys and then send the team to Holland. It could not be ascertained how much money PHF has demanded from the federal government.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan failed to participate in FIH Pro League early this year, which resulted in a fine being imposed on the country. PHF sent the team for World Cup 2018 and Asian Champions Trophy without financial assistance of federal government.
