Action taken against 1,411 profiteers, hoarders

According to a report issued by the office of the DG Industries, action was taken against 1,411 profiteers, hoarders and other persons violating the law.

On the direction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, 1,525 Price Control Magistrates raided 9,310 places and imposed a fine of 1645,800 on the law breakers.
According to a report issued by the office of the DG Industries, action was taken against 1,411 profiteers, hoarders and other persons violating the law. Cases were registered against 235 traders and shopkeepers and 259 accused involved in hoarding and profiteering were arrested. Maximum fine of two lakhs 46 thousand and 500 rupees was imposed on profiteers and hoarders in district Rahimyar Khan and a fine of Rs. two thousand only was imposed in district Gujrat.
Raids were conducted for checking weight and measures in the province and legal action was taken against 252 persons due to short measuring.
According to a report of DG Industries, one lakh, 26 thousand and 931 flour bags of 10kg each were provided to Ramazan bazaars out of which 87,117 bags were sold whereas in the open market 1621 flour bags of 10 kg each and 4,251 flour bags of 20kg each were provided.
On the instruction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, six lakh, 26 thousand and 745kg sugar was sold at Rs. 52 per kg at the subsidised rates in Ramazan bazaars. It is worth mentioning that 72 lakh, 85 thousand and 530kg sugar has been sold till 17 Ramazan-ul-Mubarak at the subsidised rate of Rs. 52 per kg in Ramazan bazaars.
One lakh, 56 thousand and 283 kg chicken was sold at Rs. 225 per kg in Ramazan bazaars. Iftari was provided to 155,495 persons at 1,778 Dastarkhawans set up under the special vision of Shahbaz Sharif throughout the province.
Ramazan bazaars: Parliamentary Secretary Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad paid surprise visits to various Ramazan bazaars in the city on Monday.
He checked quality, weight and prices of eatable items and inquired from the people about the facilities being provided in Ramazan bazaars.
Talking to the journalists, Rana Muhammad Arshad said the Punjab government had given a historic Ramazan package through a subsidy of billions of rupees for providing quality essential items to the people at cheaper rates. He said the aim of Ramazan package was to provide economic relief to the poor people.
He said that separate funds had been allocated for each Ramazan bazaar and Ramazan bazaar activities were being monitored through close circuit cameras and other sources.
