The city commissioner has urged the transporters not to overcharge passengers leaving for their hometowns for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.
They have been asked to ensure that commuters are charged in accordance with CNG rates for their gas-driven vehicles. Shoaib Siddiqui was talking to representatives of transporters and the Pakistan CNG Association in a joint meeting at his office on Monday.
The commissioner assured that problems faced by the filling stations due to long closure of CNG supply will be duly communicated to the concerned authorities. Karachi Transport Ittehad President Syed Irshad Bukhari informed the commissioner that the 48-hour closure of CNG station added to the problems of the transporters and often they had to discontinue the service.
“We are fully conscious of the problems faced by the masses and as an alternative bring our petrol-run vehicles on the roads,” said Bukhari. Shabbir Salman, president of the Pakistan CNG Association Sindh Zone, said the schedule announced by SSGC administration was a cause of great inconvenience for the CNG stations and dealers.
