About 30,000 vehicles in Karachi continue on our roads with temporary registration number plates. When you talk to an ETO (excise and taxation officer) or freelance agents or touts at the Civic Centre office of the vehicular registration department, they will tell you that the excise authorities have not been able to find a vendor to manufacture and deliver vehicle registration number plates. This is the height of corruption and incompetence.
