Three gangsters affiliated with Uzair Baloch group were killed and another was injured when rivals suspected to be affiliated with the rival Baba Ladla group attacked them with automatic and semi-automatic weapons in Gutter Baghicha, within the remit of Pak Colony police station, on Thursday evening.
According to the Pak Colony police, the gangsters affiliated with Uzair Baloch group and Aga Nasir Pathan group were sitting in Khawaja Muhammad Mohalla, Maula Dad Village, when four armed assailants riding two motorcycles approached them and showered them with bullets.
“Three gangsters of Uzair Baloch and Agha Nasir Pathan group who were identified as 28-year-old Bilal, 35-year-old Abdul Ghafoor and 30-year-old Abdul Ghani were killed,” said Pak Colony SHO Aslam Baloch while talking to The News.
He said that another suspected gangster, who was identified as 36-year-old Attaullah was also injured and shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment and his condition was said to be critical.
Following the incident, heavy contingents of police and Rangers besieged the area and launched a search operation and till late Thursday night no arrests had been reported by the police.
DIG West Feroz Shah also confirmed the deaths of three gangsters in an armed clash between two criminal gangs in Gutter Baghicha area. He said police contingents had been moved to the area to launch a search operation.
Local police officials said the assailants who arrived on two motorcycles were believed to be affiliated with Baba Ladla gang of Lyari were behind the attack on the members of their rival group.
Police investigators said they found empty shells of 9mm pistols and SMGs, which were used by the attackers, and they were sent for forensic analysis.
A senior police official of SITE division told The News that the area where the armed clash took place was still a No-Go area for the law-enforcement agencies.
They said many operations had been conducted against the gangsters within the vicinity of Gutter Baghicha and adjoining villages, but no lasting presence of law enforcers could be made possible due to heavy criminal activity in the area.
“After this clash, a major crackdown is being planned by the police and Rangers to get rid of gangsters while special teams have been formed to chase and arrest the culprits who attacked and killed their rivals in Pak Colony area,” the official said.
Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo also took notice of the clash in Pak Colony and directed DIG West Feroz Shah and SSP West to launch a crackdown against the gangsters and criminals.
