CDA to clear highways of encroachments

Islamabad : The Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA, Amir Ali Ahmed chaired a meeting of the CDA Board to review the progress of the on-going anti-encroachment drive in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The spokesperson for the CDA, in a statement said that the meeting reviewed the progress in view of the hearing of Supreme Court of Pakistan and instructions were passed on to expedite the operations and spread it to other areas which are still not being taken into consideration.

The Chairman and the CDA board members directed the Director-General (Words) was tasked to ensure that violations on right of ways should be cleared within 48 hours. In this context this operation on major roads such as Khyaban-e-Iqbal (old Margalla Road), Nazimuddin Road and IJP Road should be carried out from.

Anti-encroachment operation in Right of Way of Rawat GT and Tarnol area on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road should also be executed expeditiously.

Similarly, the meeting decided that violations outside plot lines are to be removed as well and in this context people have been issued public notices repeatedly. If any violation persists the same may be either removed by occupant themselves or CDA will remove those.

The meeting decided that the CDA will continue the anti-encroachment operations at Margalla foothills as well as in other parts of Islamabad. In this regard the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) under the Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) is being informed to withdraw any permission issued without prior approvals of CDA Planning Wing as the same would be considered without legal standing.
