Prof Fareed Ahmed Dayo clarifies report
Apropos a news report published in The News on May 11, 2019, about a legal notice sent to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law and the secretary of the universities’ board and the HEC, the counsel for Prof Fareed Ahmed A Dayo said in a statement on Tuesday that Dayo was a senior professor and had been teaching law at the Sindh Muslim Government Law College for the last about 17 years.
He stated that Prof Dayo was a senior most professor on the seniority list of the professors of the college. He said the Board of Governors had decided to appoint a permanent principal of the SM Law College; therefore, for the interim period Prof Dayo was looking after the day-to-day affairs of the college as incharge. From the news, he said, it appeared that he was acting in an unauthorised manner, whereas the fact was that he had been appointed as incharge day-to-day affairs of the college for the interim period by the board of governors of the law colleges of Karachi.
The statement further said that Mr Dayo remained additional advocate general, was one of the leading advocates on the criminal side in the Sindh High Court, and had more than 50 published cases which were reported in various law journals to his credit.
