Army, Wapda enter departmental basketball semis
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army and Wapda moved into the semifinals of Inter- Department Basketball Championship after winning their respective matches in the second leg of pool round here at the Hamidi Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex Thursday.
Army defeated POF Wah 109-48 with Ammar Tughlaq scoring 28 points and Rashid scoring 24. Izhar Khan scored 13 and M. Waqas 10 for POF Wah.
In second match Pakistan Wapda beat Railways by 92 points to 38. Aaqib Javed managed 18 and Salman Butt 16 points for winning team while Azhar Lala was the top-scorer for Railways with 19 points. On the other hand, four matches were also played in the Inter-Division Basketball Championship Sargodha Division defeated Kohat by 60 points to 22. Sheharyar Khan scored 20 and Suffiniaha 14 for Sargodha. Shahid Khan was the top-scorer for Kohat with 7 points.
In second match Karachi outclassed Mirpur Khas by 74-28 points. Zainul Abideen contributed 14 and Talha Ahmed 12 points for Karachi. In the other matches Rawalpindi beat FATA by 87-63 points while Islamabad beat Mardan 75-51.
