New LG system to meet public demands: CM

LAHORE : Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the draft of the new local government system in Punjab.

Addressing the meeting, the CM said the new local government (LG) system in the province would meet the expectations of the people and power would be transferred to the lower level in its true sense. Sardar Usman Buzdar said the LG representatives would be empowered with responsibility. He said this new system would play an important role in resolving the issues of public at their doorstep.

He said there would be proper checks and balances in the institutions. He said the LG system would be the system of public and they would feel empowered. The institutions of local government will be independent financially, the CM said. The local government secretary briefed the meeting on important features of the new local government system. Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat and chief secretary were also present.

condemns Indian firing: Usman Buzdar has strongly condemned the incident of firing by Indian Army in the residential area near the Line of Control at Chirri Coat sector.

The CM prayed for the early recovery of those who got injured in the incident. Sardar Usman Buzdar said that Indian forces were targeting unarmed population which was highly condemnable. Hitting unarmed people by Indian force has exposed the evil face of India, the CM said. He said that the firing of Indian Army on unarmed public was an open violation of human rights and international laws. It is a coward act and it has brought into limelight Indian’s hostile attitude, he added. The aggressive attitude of Modi government is a threat to the peace of the region, he said.

The CM said, “The brave forces of Pakistan have always retaliated well which is a clear message that our armed forces are ready for defence. Our whole nation is standing in solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan.”
