KARACHI: Zulfiqar Ali earned the lead at amateur gross category following his two over 74 on the second day of the 58th National Amateur Golf Championship at Lahore Garrison and Country Club Course, Lahore on Friday.
He aggregated one over 145 for two days to take one stroke lead over his nearest rivals.
Zulfiqar, who was in second position before the start of the round, climbed the leaderboard after a superb display of power drives on the par 4 and par 5.
He is now followed by Zohaib Asif, Mohsin Zafar and Abdul Zahoor. All three aggregated two over 146 each for two days.
In Inter Association Team event, Federal A edged Punjab A despite their scores tied at 455 each. Federal A were awarded the win as according to rules, points scored by the fourth player are considered to determine the winning team.
Tariq Mehmood, Mubariz Ahmad, Umar Khokhar and Parvez Malik scored for Federal A, while Ashiq Hussain, Mohammad Saqib, Khalid Mehmood and Robin Bagh combined in to get the score for Punjab A.
Rimsha Ejaz and Parkha Ejaz with four over 76 each were leading the women’s gross event. The two were followed by Hamna Amjad (81) for second spot.
