Govt taking effective steps to beautify cities: minister

LAHORE: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has said that colorful flowers are the beauty of the earth and they depict the soft sentiments of the flower lovers.

He stated this during his visit to a flower show organised by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) at Jilani Park on Wednesday. The minister took a round of different stalls in the show and appreciated the efforts of the organisers.

He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was taking various effective steps to beautify the cities for bringing real about change in the environment. He lauded the skill and art of the show organisers of arranging flowers in an attractive and beautiful manner. He said that flower shows not only provided entertainment to the citizens but also promoted the trend for growing different kinds of beautiful flower plants. He urged that such flower shows should be held regularly.

The event featured more than 100 flower plants of local and imported species, including Zenia, Patunia, snap dragon, clarkia, Fareezia and geranium. Among the species displayed by Parks and Horticulture Authority, Patunia looked amazing in a range of vibrant colours.The flower plants displayed at the exhibition were from both seasonal and annual species. The flower show attracted a large number of people belonging to different walks of life.
