LAHORE

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has rejected the recent hike in POL prices and demanded its immediate withdrawal.

In a statement on Tuesday from Makkah where he is currently staying for performing Umrah, Sirajul Haq said the government was targeting the masses with drone attacks of price hike every month to meet its growing expenditures but the plight of the common man was worsening due to rising prices. Sirajul Haq said the government claims of a ruthless accountability had proved hollow slogan as the plunderers of the public money were roaming about freely.

He said the PTI had plans for tax reforms but these were not in sight anywhere, while on the other hand, the revenue collection had come down considerably. He said the value of rupee had been reduced due to which the purchasing power of people had decreased and the middle class was badly hurt. He demanded the government see reason and avoid burdening people with more taxes and price spiral.

Meanwhile, addressing a meeting of youth and students delegations from Azad Jammu and Kashmir at Mansoorah on Tuesday, Jamaat-e-Islami acting ameer Liaquat Baloch said there could neither be lasting peace in the region nor the independence of the regional states be secured without resolving the Kashmir issue.

He said the brutalities of Indian occupation forces in Held Kashmir were compelling the Kashmiris to rise for revenge. Liaqat Baloch said New Delhi’s ban on Jamaat-e-Islami in held Kashmir and the JK Liberation Front was an undemocratic step.
