PESHAWAR: Provincial President Qumit Watan Party Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao here Tuesday demanded annulling of the local government elections of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following massive allegations of massive rigging and mismanagement during May 30 polls.
Talking to reporters before attending the all parties conference (APC) convened by the ruling Pakistan Tahrik Insaf to suggest ways and means after the irregularities and rigging allegations in LG elections in KP, Sikandar Khan Sherpao, provincial president QWP said that his party’s stance is that LG election’s results should be annulled and the rigging allegations should thoroughly be investigated.
He said it would have been better if opposition parties made consultation whether to attend or otherwise PTI sponsored all parties conference. Sherpao said QWP would decide regarding participation of opposition strike after participation in the APC.
Chairman Jamhori Watan Party, Shahram Khan Tarkai, a ruling partner of the coalition Government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa suggested re-polling and strict punishment to those involved in riggings and mismanagement.
Provincial Ameer of Jumaat e Islami, Prof Muhammad Abrahim said negotiation was the real essence of democracy and problems should be settled through consultation and peaceful means. He said tri-parties alliance of the opposition parties would be contacted. It merits to mention that ANP, PPP and JUI-F have boycotted the PTI APC and has given province-wise strike call against alleged riggings on June 10 (Tomorrow).
ANP General Secretary, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the all parties conference was convened by PTI with mala-fide intention to sabotage the strike of opposition against massive rigging in LG elections, he told media persons the other day. “This is why, the tri parties alliance was not participating in the PTI sponsored APC today,” he remarked.
Mian Iftikhar said that a committee has been constituted to make contacts with traders for shutter down on June 10 and participate in peaceful protest strike. He said PTI government has lost credibility and support of masses and was frightened of their protest movement.
