KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is the mastermind of poll rigging and organised manipulation of the local bodies’ (LB) elections of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain stated this while speaking in ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’ on Monday. The ANP leader asked the KP government to resign and hold the LB elections under caretaker set-up.
Mian Iftikhar said that it was a strange logic of Imran Khan that the opposition parties had done rigging. In case they, the opposition parties, agreed to what Imran Khan claimed, in that case it proved the failure of the government and it should quit forthwith. He said that the ANP protested immediately after the LB elections, while Imran Khan raised voice against alleged rigging one year after the general elections. This clearly depicted his ill-will.
Mian Iftikhar pointed out that Imran Khan kept waiting for the third empire and then resigned from the assemblies. Afterwards, on someone’s instigation or direction withdrew the resignations and returned to the assemblies.
He said the ANP was not afraid of negotiations and pointed out that Imran Khan, in an attempt to seek relief from the wrath of the people had taken refuge from the pressure from the opposition, called an All Parties’ Conference (APC).
If the ANP had participated in the APC, it would have lost confidence of the people. The results of the LB elections were being changed even today, he alleged.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that an enraged mob of the PTI activists attacked him and he kept facing death there every moment during four hours of the siege. The violent mob had been shouting they wanted Mian Iftikhar to revenge the death of a PTI man killed in the firing. Even after being surrounded by the blood-thirsty horde he stood fast until father of the deceased arrived and declared he had no claim against him for the killing. Even then the PTI activists tortured the old man.
Former chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan Mehdi Shah said that the PPP accepted the results of the election in Gilgit-Baltistan. However, the voters could better say the reasons for his defeat in the polls.
He demanded of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to fulfil the promise of declaring Gilgit-Baltistan a province. Mehdi Shah said religious parties used religious card in the GB elections, which resulted in PPP defeat.
Shah said the PML-N posted a governor of its choice, who, after performing his assigned job, left for Islamabad to rest.Speaking about the by-election in NA 108 Mandi Bahauddin, PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry said the government had been obliging the people of the constituency. It attracted the people with commitments of postings. In order to lure Dewan Mushtaq of the PTI, his daughter was nominated as MPA on special seats in Punjab.
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti observed there was a visible increase in terror incidents in Balochistan after the announcement of Pak-China Economic Corridor. He said the RAW and other anti-Pakistan intelligence agencies were also involved in terrorism in Balochistan. The groups funded by India were set to fail the CPEC project.
