Zardari files pre-arrest bail plea in IHC
ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday filed a pre-arrest bail petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the mega money laundering and fake accounts case.
The case is being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Zardari has been accused of involvement in the case. The former president stated in his plea the NAB had already summoned him thrice and was fearing arrest over an unknown number of inquiries being initiated against him.
The petition has made NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal and Deputy Director Muhammad Kamran as respondents.Separately, the IHC will hear Usman Dar’s plea for Zardari’s disqualification on April 4. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case.The plea seeks permanent disqualification of Zardari under Article 62(1) (f) of the Constitution.
