PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Tuesday welcomed the grant of six-week relief to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to seek medical treatment.
Through a statement issued here, he said that it was the right of the former three-time prime minister to seek medical facilities.
Aftab Sherpao said that nobody should be victimised in the name of accountability. The process of accountability should be across-the-board and transparent, he added.
The QWP leader said that the Supreme Court’s decision allowing Nawaz Sharif to seek medical treatment showed that the judiciary was independent.
Criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for failing to provide relief to the people, he said the rulers could not honour the election pledges and had instead compounded the miseries of the people.
Aftab Sherpao said the people from the downtrodden segments of the society had been exposed to a host of problems. He said that price hike and unemployment had added to the woes of the common people.
He said those who had claimed to establish a state on the model of the Madina State were unable to ensure transparency and uphold merit.
