Punjab gets funds for climate change projects
LAHORE : The Punjab government has secured development funding of Rs1,353.171 million from the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) with the efforts of the Planning and Development Board.
An official said the funding by NDRMF was aimed at the projects that improved the resilience to climate change and natural disasters which in turn result in sustainable socio-economic benefits.
Punjab Planning & Development Board Chairman Habib ur Rehman Gilani said that owing to the limited fiscal space in the province, this development was good. The grant will support the people and result in prosperity and sustainable development.
The projects in Punjab which got funded are: Rehabilitation of Hajipur Gujran Flood Protection Bund, Rehabilitation/Restoration of Jalala Flood Protection Bund, Protection of Village Abadis Shahpur, Chanjura, Fatehpur Gujran and Sukho Chak.
residency manual: The Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department has constituted a technical committee to revise the currently enforced Post-Graduate Residency (PRP) Manual with immediate effect.
The SHC&ME issued a notification on Thursday after the competent authority made the decision following the recommendation of the PG Admission Committee meeting held on March 1, 2019. Prof Dr Ijaz Hussain, professor of dermatology/pro-vice-chancellor, King Edward Medical University, Lahore, is the convener of the technical committee. Its members are: Prof Dr Asad Aslam Khan, professor of ophthalmology, CEO, Mayo Hospital, Lahore; Prof Dr Syed Asghar Naqi, professor of surgery, KEMU/Mayo Hospital, Lahore; Prof Dr Rashid Mahmood, professor of paediatrics, FJMU/SGRH, Lahore; Badar Munir, joint director, software engineer, PITB and Dr Nasir Mahmood Shakir, deputy secretary (ME), Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Punjab.
The committee will thoroughly examine the currently enforced policy and procedure for postgraduate induction, and propose amendments to the SHC&ME Department for necessary incorporation and approval within two weeks.
course: Under the aegis of ENT Department of Lahore General Hospital, special crash course was held for exams of specialisation of doctors in the fields of ear, nose and throat in which doctors from all the four provinces participated.
Head of Department of ENT Prof Najamul-Hasnain and other speakers informed the students about different diseases of ear, nose and throat and about their surgeries through latest and modern techniques.
They asked the doctors to get benefit of the experience of their seniors and apply them for the better treatment of the patients.
