28,000 out of school children to be enrolled

Islamabad : Around 28,000 out of school children of the federal capital will be enrolled in line with the vision of the prime minister, said Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood.

Addressing the second convocation of the Islamabad College of Home Economics and Management Sciences here as the chief guest, the minister said the government was committed to establishing more colleges and schools especially for women to provide them with equal opportunities in the field of education.

He said it was the responsibility of every student to play his due role for national development.

The minister said he was glad to see a number of girl students show interest in the discipline like home economics.

"No nation can make progress without the support of its women and their active participation in the process," he said.

The minister said teachers were the important segment of the society and their services for humanity were of prime importance.

“Comprehensive strategy has been made for teachers to enhance their administrative skills so they could perform their duties more effectively,” he said.

The minister said in order to make the learning process better for the students, technology experiments in the classrooms were under way following modern techniques.

He said 32 per cent of people of the country were uneducated.

“The government will continue to extend all possible efforts to make a uniformed curriculum for all educational institutions, including seminaries and private and public institutes so that the students can get the same education. The desired results are expected by the end of this year,” he said.

The minister congratulated students on receiving degrees and hoped that the graduates would contribute to the country’s development.

On the occasion, he distributed degrees to the graduates of the 2016-17 academic session.
