Action ordered against misuse of police number plates

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Kaleem Imam has ordered a campaign against those who are misusing police number plates.

The spokesman for the Sindh Police said on Wednesday that the provincial police chief had issued directives to the additional inspectors general of Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur regions, and the deputy inspectors general of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, East, South and West ranges.

The directives issued in this regard said: “Please enclosed find herewith a letter received from Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Law Enquiries & Anti-Corruption Establishment & Information & Archives Department Government of Sindh, on the subject noted above.

“It has been observed with great concern that there are numbers of vehicles witnessed with fictitious Sindh Police number plates playing on the roads particularly at Metropolitan City Karachi. It is believed that these vehicles are left unchecked and considered unsuspicious by the Police Units patrolling within their respective limits.

“Such ignorance provides opportunity for the criminal to easily roam around for their ulterior motives. This issue requires appropriate attention and immediate measures to curb the tendency of such violations.

“Therefore, it has been directed to immediately launch a Seven days campaign’ drive in coordination with Traffic Police with full swing against violators (four/ two wheelers) with fake Sindh Police number plates affixed on it.

“The campaign shall come into effect from Wednesday onwards till March-25, 2019. Action taken in this regard shall be furnished to this office. The requisite report shall reach to this office Range and Zone wise by post and email positively for the perusal IGP Sindh”.
