Terrorist killed in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: A suspected terrorist, who was killed in an encounter with police on Wednesday, was a key member of a terrorist group and was wanted by Dera Ismail Khan Police, claimed an official on Thursday.

The official said that Hamza Ali was killed and his two accomplices were arrested after an armed clash with law enforcers in Tatta Bashikhel locality. He said that the clash took place when a police party consisting of five cops headed by Sub-Inspector Ayaz Khan signalled four suspects riding two motorcycles to stop on a temporary checking point.

During a late night press conference at his office, DPO Asif Gohar had claimed that bike riders had violated the signal and drove motorcycles prompting the policemen to chase them.

The district police chief had said that the armed suspects lost control over motorcycles and attempted to flee on foot when they saw law enforcers chasing them, adding that the cops arrested two suspects while their third accomplice opened fire on Constable Sabz Ali, killing him on the spot.

"After killing policeman, the terrorist took the rifle of deceased cop and started firing on police party but he was gunned down in the retaliatory fire by law enforcers," maintained the DPO, adding that one of the accomplices of killed and arrested suspects escaped the scene. The DPO identified the killed terrorist as Hamza Ali and arrested ones as Sanaullah and Akhtar Zaman, saying that they had come to the district with an intention of committing subversive acts.

He said that the killed terrorist was wanted to Dera Ismail Khan police and he was linked to a terrorist group. The district police chief said that the cops seized arms and ammunition from killed and arrested men and also impounded their motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the slain policeman Sabz Ali was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard at Naserkhel village near Naurang with state honours. RPO Bannu Abdullah Khan, DPO Asif Gohar, district nazim Iqbal Hussain advocate, SP investigation Shafiq Wazir and people from different walks of life attended his funeral prayers.
