Call for creating awareness of Punjabi poets
LAHORE : A seminar was held at the Government College University, Lahore, titled “True Interpretation of Heer Waris Shah.”
The seminar was addressed by London-based noted Punjabi poet Mazhar Tirmazi, renowned critic Dr Maznoor Ijaz, Urdu writer Prof Dr Saadat Saeed and GCU's Punjabi Department Chairperson Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Khawar Bhutta.
According to a press release, the speakers highlighted the need to start special classes and workshops in universities and colleges to make the younger generation aware of their great Punjabi poets, including Baba Bulleh Shah. They shed light on the strong character of Heer who stood against social injustice against women. GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and senior faculty members also attended the seminar organised by the university's Punjabi Department.
