Bukhari helps return drivers from Iraq
Islamabad : Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari took notice of a video circulating on social media about drivers, who were stuck in Iraq.
The drivers were sent to Iraq one and a half month ago as part of the employment drive by an Overseas Employment Promoter. The employer in Iraq did not abide by the contract, denied them the opportunity to work and kept them in a camp.
Zulfikar Bukhari directed the director general of the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment and Community Welfare Attaché, Baghdad, to do the needful for the repatriation of the Pakistani drivers.
The efforts were put in and Iraqi authorities were taken onboard. As a result, the drivers were released and DG Bureau and Community Welfare Attaché arranged for their safe return to Pakistan. The cost of their return was paid by the Overseas Employment Promoter.
In addition to that, the Overseas Employment Promoter concerned was directed to return the amount received from these drivers, which amounts to Rs300,000.
The Overseas Employment Promoter paid the first installment of Rs100,000 on March 4, 2019, at the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, Islamabad. Rest of the amount will be paid to the drivers in two monthly installments of Rs100,000.
