Cricket League ends at PMAS-AAUR

The University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) won the 7th Annual Aridian Premier League (Cricket) by defeating Barani Institute of Information Technology (BIIT) in the final match at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) here on Tuesday.
As many as 74 teams took part in the tournament and matches were played on knockout basis.
Hanif Abbasi, chairman of the Metro Bus Project, was the chief guest at the final match, while PMAS-AAUR Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rai Niaz Ahmad, deans, directors, principal officers, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.
Hanif Abbasi, chairman of the Metro Bus Project, in his address, congratulated the winning team and announced installation of floodlights in the university’s ground. He said a variety of projects have been initiated by the Punjab government for the betterment of sports in the city of Rawalpindi. He informed the gathering that the Metro Bus Project has been completed and it will be inaugurated in one or two days. He appreciated the efforts of the organising committee for the successful and timely completion of the tournament.
Earlier, addressing the ceremony, Professor Dr Rai Niaz Ahmad, vice chancellor of the PMAS-AAUR, said that promotion and development of high performance sport is one of the major aims of PMAS-AAUR.
