PESHAWAR: The Science Journalism Society of Pakistan (SJSP) has named Dr Zafar Iqbal, Meritorious Professor, Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar, as its ‘Patron-in-Chief’.
The term of the nomination will be initially a period of five years which may be extended. He will guide the SJSP’s administration on science and technology and the allied fields.
Dr Zafar Iqbal has been associated with teaching and research for the last 33 years. He is a Higher Education Commission-approved supervisor and has a vast experience in the field of science and technology.
The professor has experience in linking academia and industry for commercialisation of the scientific products.
Dr Zafar Iqbal has authored 120 plus research papers which have been published in the accredited national and international journals. He has also supervised up to 40 MS/ PhD scholars.
He received Tamgha-e-Imtiaz from the Government Pakistan in 2016 for his outstanding services and achievements in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
Dr Zafar Iqbal obtained the degree of B Pharmacy from the Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, M Pharmacy from the Punjab University, Lahore and PhD from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. He has completed his post-doctoral studies in the UK.
