The government has recently approved an increment for those pensioners who retired before 2002 with the proviso that they must have more than six months of service between the date of the last increment and the date of retirement. This is applicable even to those pensioners who have reached the last ladder of the pay scale.
A situation has arisen in which the salary of the retiring year and the succeeding year came up to the same. The CMA (OP) is refusing to grant the increment to such cases on the ground that ‘the next stage of the pay is the same’. This ruling is against the spirit of the government’s decision to afford some relief to old pensioners. The finance ministry is requested to issue necessary amendments for old pensioners.
