CM approves senior citizens’ projects

LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar approved different projects for the wellbeing of deserving women, children and senior citizens.

Addressing a meeting of board of Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA) that was held under the chair of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office here Thursday, he said that the PTI government gave importance to the welfare of the needy communities adding that role of PSPA is important in this regard.

The meeting was told that one-window welfare counters would be set up at e-Khidmat Centres to facilitate the deserving women, children and the elderly. Through these counters, they will be provided different PSPA services. The meeting deliberated on the proposal of starting ‘Bahimmat Buzurg’ programme for the people aged more than 65 years. It discussed the proposal of giving monthly pension to such people. The chief minister directed that the programme aimed at the welfare of senior citizens of more than 65 years should be given final shape soon. The meeting also pondered over the proposal of launching ‘Hum Qadam’ project for the differently abled. It was told that a special project would be started on the directions of Supreme Court for the welfare of the transgender community and facilities like free education and healthcare, screening, legal and psychological assistance and shelter will be provided to the transgender children. The participants were informed that PSPA had also submitted an application to the Pemra for banning the ridiculing of transgender community in TV programmes.

PM’s address: Usman Buzdar has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s address to the joint session of parliament is the voice of 220 million Pakistanis and by announcing the release of IAF pilot, the PM has given another chance to peace.

In his statement issued here Thursday, the chief minister said that Prime Minister’s announcement regarding release of Indian pilot is a goodwill gesture of Pakistan and its commitment to maintain peace in the region.

law & order: Usman Buzdar Thursday presided over a meeting at his office in which overall law & order of the province was reviewed and the meeting expressed its satisfaction over the arrangements made for the protection of life and property of the people. Addressing the meeting, he said that protection of life and property of the people is the basic responsibility of the state and added that no stone will be left unturned in this regard. He directed to take every possible step for improving the law & order adding that every effort should be made in this regard because nothing is important than it. I am personally monitoring the law & order, he added.

civil defence: Usman Buzdar has said that civil defence department is entrusted the gigantic task of protecting the citizens during the times of war and peace. In his message issued here Thursday, the chief minister said the role of civil defence organisation during various emergencies like earthquake, floods and war is fully evident.
