Rich tributes were paid to Prof Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi, director of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT), when he became the first Pakistani surgeon to receive the prestigious honorary membership of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) at a ceremony held here on Tuesday evening.
In his citation, the visiting secretary-designate of BAUS, Dr Asif Munir, who conferred the prestigious membership certificate on Dr Rizvi, recounted the services rendered by the iconic surgeon over the past several decades.
He complimented him for his vision, dedication and deep commitment to mitigating the plight of the ailing population in Pakistan. Keeping him in the highest esteem, Asif Munir, himself a urologist, said the philosophy and vision of Dr Rizvi needed to be emulated.
In his speech of thanks, Dr Rizvi underlined the need for academic and professional cooperation between the British medical institutions and his own institute. He asked for a better flow of information and transfer of technology and an SIUT-BAUS exchange programme, and praised the British medical institution for playing a great role in his professional training.
