LAHORE: A large number of PPP, Punjab, jialas (workers) gathered at Faisal Chowk, The Mall, to celebrate the day of the 1974 Islamic Summit Conference held in Lahore when the party founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was the prime minister of the country.

The Punjab PPP leadership on the occasion vowed to continue the mission of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and warned India to avoid casting evil eye on Pakistan. The gathering was addressed by Central Punjab PPP President Qamar Zaman Kaira, PPP parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Syed Hassan Murtaza, Punjab General Secretary Chaudhry Manzoor, Naveed Chaudhry and others.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto rebuilt the disintegrated country after 1971. He said the Islamic Conference held in Lahore and hosted by Shaheed Bhutto served as a platform for the unity of Muslims which scared and shook the imperialistic powers of that time.

Kaira said that it was Bhutto who expressed the resolve to fight against India for every inch of the homeland, whereas, the present prime minister of the country responded to Indian allegations in the present situation after five days of the Pulwama incident.

Kaira coming hard of Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that if he and his ministers were not capable of giving any befitting response to Modi, the PPP would do that.

While criticising the PTI government for “victimising political opponents,” Kaira said the PPP would continue to combat cruelty and oppression. He said the government was conspiring against the 18th Amendment without realising that it was part of the constitution.

Voicing concern over the arrest of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, Kaira said the prime minister shouldn’t forget that he also belonged to same the land. He said the “corruption cards’ were used against politicians by the previous regimes also. He said Zulfikar Bhutto gave constitution to the country.

Chaudhry Manzoor said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto ruled the country with dignity but the present prime minister served as the driver of a visiting Saudi prince. He said this was the glaring difference between a genuine leader and others, adding Bhutto was acknowledged as the true leader by the Islamic nations.

Chaudhry Manzoor stated Bhutto gave nuclear programme to the country for which he was eliminated and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also met the same fate when she gave the missile programme to Pakistan. He announced that PPP would hold a seminar every year to commemorate the 1974 Islamic Summit Conference.
